It started with a restore that failed
In 2021, our founders were running a managed services business. They had Veeam on every client, alerts configured, and thought they were covered. Then a client server crashed — and the backups had been silently failing for 11 days.
The alert had been going to a shared inbox that nobody monitored closely. The job had continued — it just completed with errors that nobody caught in time.
We rebuilt our monitoring stack from scratch, and when we saw how much other MSPs were struggling with the same problem, we turned it into BackupSentinel.
How we think about building software
Reliability first
If a backup fails and we don't alert you, we've failed you. Everything we build starts from the question: what would happen if this silently broke?
Honest transparency
We publish our uptime history, tell you when things go wrong, and we never hide limitations in small print. You deserve to know what you're buying.
Customer-led development
Every feature we build comes from real conversations with MSPs and IT teams. We read every support ticket and ship what you actually need.
The people behind BackupSentinel
A small, focused team with deep roots in managed services and software engineering.
