Duplicati backup monitoring.

Duplicati has email reporting built in, set with advanced options on each backup. Its default subject names the backup, so one client address covers several backups.

Built in
A rule for Duplicati reports comes with every workspace. No agent, no access to the backup server.
By job name
One client address covers every job: each report is matched to its backup by the job name.
1 min
A report shows under its backup within a minute of arriving.
15 min
Between checks for reports that did not arrive. Silence is never read as success.

Point Duplicati at your client address.

Every client gets its own email address when you add it. Reports sent or forwarded there are read by the built-in rule for Duplicati, and each result lands on the backup it belongs to.

The full guide, step by step
  1. Edit the backup → Options → Advanced options.
  2. Add send-mail-to with the client address, plus send-mail-url for your SMTP server. Leave the subject at its default.
  3. Give each backup here the same name as in Duplicati: reports are matched by that name.

How a report finds its backup.

Matching
The built-in rule reads the backup name from "Backup report for <name>" in the subject, and the duration. One client address therefore covers all of a client's Duplicati backups, as long as the names are the same on both sides.
Check it works
Run the job once, or wait for the next scheduled run. Within a minute the report appears under the backup, or in the Inbox when it could not be matched. A product's own "send test email" is not a backup result: expect it in the Inbox, where you can ignore it.

Then every Duplicati job has a status.

Status
Each report sets Healthy, Warning or Failed. Failures in a row count as a streak.
Missing
No report inside the job’s window and the backup turns Missing, like a failure would.
Attention
Failed, missing and warning backups are listed for the team, to acknowledge, snooze or resolve.
Alerts
Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams or PagerDuty, and a recovery notice when the next report is OK.
Everything the product does

Start with one Duplicati backup.

Point its report at the address you get on sign-up. Within a day you will know whether it reported.
